Business Accelerator & Entrepreneurship Centre

Kearns Mancini was tasked with the challenging problem of unifying a complex system of disparate buildings on George Brown College's Casa Loma campus. The resulting "link" building addition effectively creates a new nexus point for campus life, fostering a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that has become an important part of the school's identity.

Casa Loma campus map

The highly complex addition bridges two existing buildings designed with entirely different structural systems and floor levels. Extensive testing and soils investigation had to be completed in order to design a suitable foundation system which would not interfere with the existing foundation adjacent to the project site. The completed building is now home to George Brown College's business accelerator and entrepreneurship centre (BAEC), also serving as a focal point of activity and movement on Casa Loma campus.

This project is part of a larger transformation happening at the Casa Loma campus, where facilities are being redeveloped to create centres of Innovation and Incubation. The BAEC link building has played a key role in this transformation, helping realize a new more innovative George Brown College.
