City of Welland Fire Station No. 2 - FireStation2_West-main_web-scaled

City of Welland Fire Station No. 2

KMAI is the architect on a design-build team for a new fire station in Welland.

Working in a collaborative LEAN construction process with Mettko Construction, Fire Station No. 2 will replace the existing fire station. The key objective is to improve emergency response times for the City.

Located on King Street, a major thoroughfare, the design seeks to add vibrancy to the street and celebrate the fire station’s presence. The transparency of the design will provide a welcoming street frontage to the community and showcase the large red fire trucks.

The design objective is to balance function, efficiency and create a beautiful station that will be admired by the community, as well as serve for emergency action.

The new fire station will be operational 24/7 and includes three drive-thru bays and amenity facilities for fire station staff.

The facility will include triple glazed windows, a highly energy-efficient envelope with R values in the high 40s.
